According to a report carried by a news agency PTI , R S Sodhi MD of GCMMF has assured that the dairy cooperative would shrink from hiking milk prices in the next few months. Amul is the leader in milk and milk products.
Considering stable feed prices and lower energy and transportation costs, there is no need to hike prices, Sodhi added.
He said milk buying from Gujarat and other parts of the country has gone up from 155 lakh litres to 195 lakh litres a day and this is the result of Amul paying better prices to milk producers compared to private dairy companies.
Mr. Sodhi said commodity prices crashing and private dairies not collecting milk have got Amul an opportunity to expand its market base.
