The Congress leader and a rebel in otherwise BJP controlled cooperative scene Ramsinh Parmar was elected Chairman of the Kheda District Co-operative Milk Producers Union. He won for the fourth consecutive terms.
Kheda is the place where the milk- revolution was born and this milk union is known as Amul Dairy. Parmer had been a Congress minister in the past.
Caught in unending legal wrangles the Board meeting of Kheda District Co-operative Milk Producers Union finally took place. In total 13 Directors were elected.
Amul Dairy is the only non-BJP controlled among 17 district unions affiliated to the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF).Amul Dairy, had a turnover of Rs 4825-crore in 2015-16, reports UNI.
It has 6,83,130 producer members with 1217 Village Dairy Cooperative Societies and has a total Milk Handling Capacity of 5-million-litre per day. It collects average 1.9-million litres of milk per day.
