Kurien Bikers, as they have come to be known with time, reached the Mahakaal Nagari of Ujjain on Sunday, informs a press release from the dairy co-op titan Amul. Fifty youngsters on motorbike had continued their journey after visiting Sanchi Dugdh Sangh in Bhopal on 22nd, to Ujjain, it adds.
It bears recall that in the run-up to National Milk Day on November 26, these youngsters started their journey from Varanasi on 15thTheir purpose is to meet people and visit places created and inspired by Dr Verghese Kurien.
After two brief pitstops at Sehore and Devas, the bikers proceeded to meet the farmers and employees of Ujjain milk packing unit of Amul Panchamrut Dairy.
The chief guest Sh. P K Verma, Sr. Professor of Earth & Science in Vikram University Ujjain, welcomed all bikers. He praised Dr Kurien for his commendable efforts in revolutionising the dairy industry, taking the country from milk deficit to milk surplus.
The bikers later proceeded to meet the team of Sanchi Dugdh Sangh at their Ujjain plant. The entire team welcomed the bikers in a grand way. Director Sh. Mahendra Singh Banna, CEO Sh. Dr. B.K. Sahu and AGM Sh. DP Singh appreciated the team for their efforts in inspiring the youth along their journey.
This 12-day motorbike rally spanning over 2500 km invites participants to join the route it would traverse from the holy city of Varanasi to the Milk capital of India, Anand. Throughout their journey, the bikers will meet people and visit institutions created and inspired by Dr Verghese Kurien.
On 26th November, 2019, Dr. Kurien rally will culminate in his karmabhoomi Anand; Dr. Kurien’s messengers will be welcomed in all splendour fitting to his contribution towards mankind. In the final lap, they will be visiting Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, marketing house of the extremely popular brand AMUL, followed by a visit to IRMA and then they will attend the closing ceremony at National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).
