Amul girl loses grand Pa; Sylvester daCunha no more

Sylvester daCunha, the architect of Amul’s ‘utterly butterly’ campaign in sixties with the mascot of the iconic Amul girl, passed away in Mumbai on Tuesday night. Amul girl, a brain child of Sylvester, has been securing peoples’ attention for decades.

Expressing his shock, GCMMF MD Jayen Mehta tweeted “Very sorry to inform about the sad demise of Shri Sylvester daCunha, Chairman of daCunha Communications last night at Mumbai A doyen of Indian advertising industry who was associated with Amul since 1960s. The Amul family joins in mourning this sad loss @RahuldaCunha”.

Sylvester daCunha was in his 80s and is survived by his wife Nisha, their son Rahul daCunha. He was the brother of the advertising genius, Gerson daCunha.

Working closely with legendary Verghese Kurien, the two had created the Amul mascot, the little girl. Indian Cooperative joins others in expressing deepest condolences for the advertising genius!
