The fate of the man who has single handed kept BJP at bay is going to be decided today. Ramsinh Parmar is the lone Congress cooperator holding onto the last bastion of Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union, also known as Amul Dairy.
Kaira milk union will elect a new Board of directors on Tuesday as two panels –one led by Parmar and another led by Vipul Patel are eager to take on each other.
Parmar, who is Congress MLA is believed to have supported Vipul Chaudharay in whatever the latter decided to do. Several cooperators of Gujarat are of the opinion that Vipul would not have been there where he is today, only if he had not heeded Parmar’s advice.
This election is crucial for BJP cooperators of the state in general as they will have a smooth sail if Parmar is defeated. Parmer is alleged to be behind all the rebellion witnessed in recent times at the GCMMF Board.
Parmar has been serving as Kaira chairman since 2006. He was re-elected in 2009. This is the third time that he is contesting as no election was held in 2012 because of litigation in the High Court against changes in the newly-amended Gujarat Cooperative Societies Act.
The results will be out on Wednesday.
