Gujarat State Cooperative Union Chairman G H Amin has written a letter to NCUI President Dileep Sanghani to address the issues related to “Cooperative Education Fund” as a serious matter.
In his letter he wrote, “The issue needs serious attention and please render our apprehensions to the government at a higher level. I hope that you are able to convince the government of the issues”.
“The GOI has recently proposed a draft amendment in the MSCS Act 2022. In the proposed act one of the proposed drafts for cooperative education funds. Co-op Education Fund to be maintained by the Central Government and proceeds to be used for Cooperative Education and Training through NCUI or and any other agency (ies) as decided by Central Government. (Section 63)”, Amin’s letter added.
It further reads, our country has nearly 8.5 lakh cooperative societies. If in any case, the above proposed amendment is passed and becomes a law, the state government may also adopt the same steps in their respective states and if they will also amend the act in their states, this will seriously affect the state cooperative and district cooperative unions”.
Consequently, the cooperative education system may become paralyzed because of unavailability of funds and state and district cooperative unions have to totally depend on the government. Which is unhealthy for the cooperative, the letter concludes.
