Senior Director Adv. Pralhad Kokare has been unanimously designated as Chairman of The Cosmos Co-operative Bank Ltd. in a recent Board of Directors meeting, following the voluntary resignation of the incumbent Chairman, CA Milind Kale.
Adv. Kokare has been on the Board of Directors for around 21 years, since December 2004. He served as Vice Chairman of the Bank during 2019-2020 and 2020-2021.
A retired Joint Registrar of Co-operative Societies from the State Government, Kokare has actively participated in various committees of the Board over the past 20 years. He has consistently been a dynamic and influential Director of the Bank.
Speaking to the Indian Cooperative, outgoing Chairman Milind Kale stated that he resigned for personal reasons. Kale praised Kokare, noting that he has been a tremendous support for him and for the Bank since joining the Board.
Kale added that when he first joined the Board, Kokare was already serving, and he continued to provide guidance and advice throughout Kale’s tenure. It is worth noting that Cosmos Bank’s presence on the national cooperative scene grew significantly during Kale’s tenure.
Kale also serves as the Vice President of NAFCUB, the apex body of Urban Cooperative Banks (UCBs) in the country, and as the Vice Chairman of COBI, the apex body of cooperative banks.
Kokare’s term as Chairman is expected to be brief, as the Cosmos Co-op Bank is approaching its election period.
