Sahakar Bharati President Mr Jyotindra Mehta has impressed on the chief minister of Chhattisgarh Raman Singh to prepare and adopt a co-operative policy for the state. He was on a whirl-wind tour of states as reported earlier in these columns.
It has been seen that the state has no clarity of what exactly co-operatives could do in the uplift of the economy and in this context Mehta’s advice was appropriate and timely, commented a cooperator.
Mehta also said the state government should define its expectations from the co operative sector and accordingly co operatives could help the state speed up the growth of the economy of the state. Mehta was emphatic that co-ops could play their role in both urban and rural development. .
He congratulated the Chief Minister for purchasing handloom clothes worth RS. 150 crore through co-operatives last year. Mehta was also appreciative of the state govt helping set up Bunkar Cooperative Society.
Talking to Indian Cooperative Mehta’s aide Bharat Kapadia said Mehta also raised issues related to PACS with the CM.
