The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) took into custody the general manager of a cooperative consumer depot for taking a bribe of Rs 5.70 lakh from a pharmacist in Jodhpur in Rajasthan, reports Press Trust of India.
A middle man was also arrested who had taken the amount on behalf of the general manager.
Police say a pharmacist had alleged that the General Manager of the depot had been demanding a bribe of Rs 5.70 lakh for his transfer to another store.
The accused had been taking a fixed monthly amount from all the pharma stores of the bhandar since a long time. Complaint against him had also been made by RTI activists during Diwali for granting the contract for crackers shops in violation of the rules.
