Over 400 cooperative societies have registered on the government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal in the last three months, Union Minister B L Verma said on Monday.
Verma said this during the inauguration of Co-op Week organized by the apex body of cooperatives-NCUI at its headquarters.
He said there are 40 thousand sellers from which co-ops can buy leading to unprecedented transparency.
Verma also said that India would outnumber China soon in terms of population and to cater to the needs of such a vast mass of people only co-operative could be an effective means.
Reiterating the PM’s mantra of “Sahakar se Samriddhi”, Verma said that the new Ministry under the able leadership of Amit Shah has taken several initiatives to achieve the same within a short span of one year and four months.
