The Union Ministry of Cooperation has announced a significant progress in the digitization of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) across the country. To date, 28 states and union territories have successfully procured the necessary hardware for the computerization of their PACS.
A total of 37,326 PACS have been integrated into the ERP software system, with 27,812 of them already operational.
This initiative represents a major milestone in the modernization of PACS, aimed at streamlining operations and enhancing service delivery to farmers and rural communities.
The cooperative sector in India is undergoing a digital transformation, with PACS increasingly adopting computerization to improve efficiency and transparency.
PACS play a vital role in sustaining the rural economy, providing farmers with short- and medium-term credit, as well as essential agricultural inputs such as fertilizers, pesticides, and seeds.
