BJP’s defeat in recent state assembly elections is somewhat eased by its success in controlling District Central Cooperative Banks of Kumaon Mandal of Uttarakhand. The four DCCBs include Almora, Nainital, Udhamsingh Nagar and Pithoragarh DCCBs. The elections were held on Tuesday.
The news was shared by one of the members of the committee formed by BJP to oversee the election process of the state, Dan Singh Rawat informed “Manoj Samant and Narendra Rautela have been elected unopposed as the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of Pithoragarh District Cooperative Bank. Lalit Singh Latwal has been elected unopposed as the Chairman of Almora District Cooperative Bank.
Narendra Manas and Gopal Rawat have been elected as the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of Udhamsingh Nagar District Cooperative Bank. NCUI Governing Council Member Rajendra Singh Negi has been re-elected as the Chairman of Nainital DCCB. Singh has been re-elected for the consecutive fifth term.
Soon after the victory, State Cooperative Minister Dhan Singh Rawat congratulated the newly elected team of DCCBs through social media. Rawat also posted photographs with winners on his facebook wall.
Readers would recall that Kumaon Mandal went to the polls to elect Directors on 10th December. The elections for the Chairman and Vice-Chairman were held on 11th December.
It has been reported that out of 13 posts of directors 12 have been elected unopposed as the directors of Pithoragarh DCCBs. The election for one post only was held.
The election for four seats of Nainital DCCBs was held and eight directors were elected unopposed.
On 12th and 13th December the election of State Cooperative Resham Federation will be held and on 14th and 15th December the election of Dairy Federation is slated to be concluded.
It bears recall that the election process of different cooperative organizations of the state had begun in July. Polls did take place for many coops but due to civic polls in the state the election schedule of DCCBs bank had been extended.
