In elections to the board of directors of Pune People’s Cooperative Bank, the Utkarsha panel led by the outgoing President Subhash Mohite made the Sahakar Panel bite the dust, the result of which was announced on Monday late evening.
All the 13 seats of the board have gone to the Utkarsha Panel indicating their overwhelming support among the electorate. Mohite who doubles as the Chairman of Pune District Urban Cooperative Banks Association, received 5178 votes whereas Dilip Dagade who was heading the Sahakar Panel got 1781 votes only.
In the newly elected board four directors are newcomers and the rest are from the outgoing board. It is worth mentioning that Subhash Mohite and his team have a strong hold at the top level and even Cosmos Bank Chairman Milind Kale and other cooperators had urged voters to cast their votes in favour of the Utkarsha Panel.
Talking to Indian Cooperative Mohite said, “We are very thankful to our shareholders who reposed faith in us and we will fulfill their expectations. We will make a strategy to take the bank to newer heights. The elections of Chairman and Vice-Chairman will be held in a couple of days”, he added.
The names of the winning candidates include, Baban Bhegade, Subhas Mohite, Janardan Randive, Ramesh Sonawane, Bipin Shah, Milind Wani, Nisha Karpe, Subhash Gandhi, Subhash Nade, Shridhar Gaikwad, Sanjeev Asawale, Vaishali Chhajed and Vishwanath Jadhav.
District Deputy Registrar (Rural) Milind Sobale had been appointed as the returning officer to oversee the election process.
Pune Peoples Cooperative Bank’s is having a business mix of more than Rs 2k crore. The bank earned a net profit of Rs 15 crore in the 2021-22 FY. The bank has 22 branches and 1 extension counter in Maharashtra and Karnataka.
