Sterling Performance: Shah felicitates State Co-op Banks, DCCBs & PACS

During the National Conference of Rural Co-operative Banks held in Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah felicitated State Cooperative Banks (StCBs), District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs) and Primary Agriculture Credit Co-op Societies (PACs) for their outstanding performance with mementos, among other things.

On this occasion, a total of 23 awards were distributed to the awardees but the Nafscob jury failed to find any good cooperative bank from the North Eastern region. The maximum awards were bestowed on the banks falling in the Southern States, quipped a cooperator present on the occasion.

The co-ops banks, which received the appreciation awards during four years include, Tamil Nadu State Apex Cooperative Bank, Gujarat State Cooperative Bank and Punjab State Cooperative Bank.

Besides, the appreciation awards for the best performance during one decade were presented to Ahmedabad DCCB, Karimnagar DCCB, Satara DCCB and Krishna DCCB. And the PACCs which received the awards for the best performance include Kerala based Pappinivattom Service Cooperative Bank, Primary Agriculture Credit Cooperative Society (Telangana) and Orissa based Purushottampur Service Cooperative Society.

Shah’s also bestowed the awards on banks, which have completed more than 100 years of their existence. They include Tamil Nadu State Cooperative Bank, Bihar StCB, Delhi StCB and Karnataka StCB, Salem DCCB, Akola-Washim DCCB, Thiruchirapalli DCCB, Vijayapura KK Bazar PACS Vishalpur SSML and Vijaydurg V.K.S. Society.

Union Minister of State for Cooperation BL Verma, Nafscob Chairman K Ravinder Rao, Kribhco Chairman Chandra Pal Singh, NCUI President Dr Chandra Pal Singh, Cooperation Secretary Gyanesh Kumar and representatives from different cooperative banks across the country attended the function.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah informed on the occasion that there are about 8.5 lakh cooperative societies in the country, out of which there are 1.78 lakh different types of credit societies. In the field of agricultural credit, there are 34 state cooperative banks with more than 2,000 branches, 351 district cooperative banks with 14,000 branches and about 95,000 PACS.
