A core team of NAFCUB led by its President Jyotindrabhai Mehta took stock of preparations related to the National Conclave on UCBs at the Vigyan Bhawan Wednesday evening. The mega co-op event is being inaugurated today by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah.
Those accompanying Mehta included senior co-operators such as Dr Uday Joshi, Mudit Verma, Laxmi Das, N.S. Jayakumar and others. “It is for the first time that Amitbhai is coming to address a co-op meeting focussed exclusively on the co-op banking sector”, said an excited Mehta. We do not wish to leave any loose end, he added.
Mehta and his team reviewed the preparations from entry point to exit point. Nafcub is working hard to make the event successful. “Many cooperators across the country have come to Delhi and many are on their way to attend the event which will be historic for the cooperative banking sector, ” said one of the members who went to Vigyan Bhawan to take the stock of arrangements.
Several issues like constituting the Umbrella organization, taxation issues of cooperative credit societies, the Banking Regulation Act, and others are going to be addressed at length.
“It will be the first conclave in which Shah will participate, which is particularly designed for the cooperators associated with Scheduled & Multi-State Urban Cooperative Banks. There are more than 1500 Urban Cooperative Banks in India and out of which 52 banks are scheduled banks”, said Mehta.
Meanwhile, Nafucb has made a separate session for felicitating the representatives of Urban Cooperative Banks who have completed 100 years of existence. The awards will be given by the Union Minister of State for Finance Bhagwat Karad to the recipients. On average 198 banks are going to become a part of this award session.
