Saraswat Bank has become the first bank in cooperative sector in the country to go live on WhatsApp channel for notifications and Bot services. Even in commercial sector, Kotak Mahindra is the only other bank to do so.
It bears recall that popular social media platform WhatsApp recently launched a ‘WhatsApp for Business’ service. Saraswat Bank which has always been at the vanguard of embracing leading-edge technology has exploited this new feature to boost its business.
The mail sent by the ucb reads ” it is taking this legacy forward by bringing innovative digital services to our customers and being at par with some of our private counterparts.”
“Through ‘Bank on WhatsApp’ service, Saraswat Bank customers can receive WhatsApp notifications instead of text messages (SMSs) with end-to-end encryption. Customers can also initiate chat as well as check balance, mini statements, etc. Other functionalities like Mobile banking registration, product details, requests/enquiries, forms/Apps download, etc will be released in a phased manner”, read a press release mailed to Indian Cooperative.

It bears recall that Saraswat Bank is the first UCB in the country to have crossed a business mix of Rs 50 thousand crore. It has pan India presence with 281 branches and 260 ATMs.
