Raman Singh embroiled in a Co-op bank scam

A major cooperative scandal in Chhattisgarh involving chief minister Raman Singh has broken. The Opposition party Congress has released a CD which blares serious allegations against the chief minister.

NCUI Governing Council member Lakhan Lal Sahu a cooperative leader from Chattisgarh, however lamented that the real issue of siphoning of Rs 54 crore from the Indira Priyadarshini Mahila Sahkari Bank has drowned in the cacophony of CD affair.

Congress also claimed that late Dinesh Patel, son of late PCC chief Nand Kumar Patel was planning to reveal this information on June 15, but he met with an untimely demise in Darbh Maoist attack.

Chhattisgarh congress leaders Bhupesh Baghel and Shailesh Nitin Trivedi released a CD purportedly containing narco-analysis test record of the prime accused Umesh Sinha at a press conference.

It may be recalled that Sinha was the Manager of Indira Priyadarshini Bank that went bust after multi-crore scam that was unearthed in the year 2006.

Lakhan Lal Sahu, however asserts that all the directors of the tainted bank belonged to the congress party. Sahu names Rita Tiwary, the Chairman of the UCB as the daughter in law of Ramgopal Tiwary who is a Congress leader and is also a former NCUI Chairman.

Other members included Savita Shukla, Roshni Chuabey daughter of ex Congress MP I K U Bhushan, Sarojni Sharma, Sangita Sharma,Sulochana Adil. Arunima Nigam another member is daughter of Congress leader Maya Devi Srivastava, Durga Devi Pagaria is the wife of Cong leader Gajraj Pagaria, Pushpa Sharma, Dil Kis Bano is the wife of Congress leader Abudil Hami Hayat and Lalita Jain is the wife of Swaroop Jain, a congress leader who rose to prominenece during Sitaram Kesari era.

But Congress leaders are triggering up the political controversy nevertheless. Baghel and Trivedi said that, Dinesh Patel, who was killed in the Maoist ambush on a Congress convoy on May 25, had sent an SMS to party leaders that a “major disclosure” about the state government would be made on June 15 which can force CM to step down from his post.

The CD has narco-test record analysis of the main accused of the 2006 Priyadarshini Mahila Nagrik Sahakari Bank scam that reveals the bank offering huge amount of money to Raman Singh and his ministers.

Sources say, the Chhattisgarh Congress hopes to deny Raman Singh an electoral hat trick by raking up this scandalous event.

Experts say the CD would not stand in court and it is doctored to boot. BJP has accused Congress of scandal mongering and scolded it for raising fake issues.
