Congress leader Bapu Rao Patil and NCP Leader Madhukar Mote have been elected as the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of beleaguered Maharashtra-based Osmanabad District Central Cooperative Bank, in an election held on Monday at its headquarters.
Though the elections of the board of directors were fought jointly by the leaders of Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition government and candidates of Shiv Sena, Congress, and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) had won five-five seats each but in the elections of Chairman and Vice-Chairman Congress and NCP come together to defeat the Shiv Sena’s candidates.
In the elections, Bapu Rao Patil from Congress and Sanjay Deshmukh from Shiv Sena had filed nominations for the post of Chairman whereas Madhukar Mote from NCP and Balwant Tambare from Shiv Sena filed the nominations for the post of Vice-Chairman. Shiv Sena’s Candidates received 4 votes out of 15.
The followers of Bapu Rao Patil lost no time in congratulating their leaders and as soon as his name was announced he was profusely garlanded. He thanked one and all. Several of his followers took to social media to greet their leader.
“Congratulations to Bapurao Patil and Madhukar (Bhau) Mote for being elected as the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of Osmanabad District Central Co-operative Bank”, the social media users wrote.
It bears recall that the bank is having an accumulated loss of Rs 101 crore. The bank has to recover the dues of Rs 465 crore from the two defunct cooperative sugar mills including Terna and Tuljabhavani and their unpaid dues have led to the financial weakness of the bank.
Now the new team which has been elected for five years has to work to tackle the bank’s financial crisis. It may be a challenging task for the new office-bearers to bring the bank on track.
S U. Shirapurkar had been appointed as the Returning officer to oversee the election process of the bank.
True elections have to held not only in bank but also in the ParliMent Election.
