NCP leader Tanajirao Chorage and Babaji Jadhav have been elected unopposed as the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of Maharashtra-based Ratnagiri District Central Cooperative Bank. The election was held on Wednesday at the bank headquarters.
It bears recalling that in the election of the board of directors held recently, out of 21 posts of directors, the majority of seats were won by the leaders of NCP.
The election was held under the supervision of Sopan Shinde, who is District Deputy Registrar of Co-operation.
Soon after the election, talking to the Indian Cooperative the bank Chairman Chorage said, “We are planning to make the bank’s own data center and for this, we have made a provision of Rs 6 crore.
Chorage further said “We will also develop independent software. We will also computerize the 372 PACCs linked with our bank in a couple of months and the computerization cost will be borne by the bank itself”, he added. It is a fact that Chorage has been credited with many developmental activities in the bank.
We will also launch the mobile van and run the financial literacy camp among the villagers. The bank has done a good job all over India in the last 15 years and NABARD, RBI also appreciated our work. From the past ten years our Net NPA is under control and we are disbursing 15 percent dividends to shareholders”
Today the bank’s business is more than Rs 4000 crore and it has earned a net profit of Rs 20 crore with zero percent NPA. The bank has 80 branches across the district.
The Bank had also achieved ISO 9001:2008 certification by giving better services to customers and quality work. It has developed its own computerised executive training centre. It has started working through the CBS system since 2012.
The Bank has started seven Financing Literacy Centres (FLC) with the help of NABARD to support the FI program of the Government of India. The Bank’s rise from the ashes once again proves the point that effective leadership can play a stellar role in the growth of the co-op movement.
