Preparations are afoot for the National Conclave of Scheduled & Multi-State Urban Cooperative Banks and Credit Societies to be held on 23rd June at Plenary Hall, Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi and it will be inaugurated by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah.
It is being organized by the apex body of Urban Cooperative Banks and Credit Societies-Nafcub in collaboration with the Ministry of Cooperation. The theme of the event will be “Future Role of Urban Cooperative Credit Societies”.
Besides Shah, the list of invitees includes Union Minister of State for Cooperation B L Verma, Ministry of Cooperation Secretary Gyanesh Kumar (IAS), Central Registrar, NCUI Chairman Dileepbhai Sanghani, and the veteran leaders associated with the cooperative banking sector.
Several issues like constituting the Umbrella organization, taxation issues of cooperative credit societies, the Banking Regulation Act, and others are going to be addressed at length.
The first session post lunch will be held on “Future role of UCBs & Recommendations of RBI’s Expert Committee” which will be addressed by RBI Retd. Deputy Governor N.S.Vishwanathan, RBI Director Satish Marathe, Saraswat Bank, Chairman Gautam Thakur, Cosmos Bank Chairman Milind Kale, and SVC Bank, MD, Ashok Singhal.
The Second session’s theme will be “National Cooperative Finance & Development Corporation, a game-changer as the Umbrella Organization for the UCB Sector”. It will be chaired by Nafcub Chairman Emeritus H K Patil and the panelists include, RBI Retd. ED V S Das, Sahakar Bharati National President D N Thakur and Kalupur Bank CEO Vinod Dadlani.
The third session on “Banking Regulation (Amendment) Act 2020- Impact & Development” will be chaired
The Nafcub team is busy giving finishing touches to the preparations. It will be the first conclave in which Shah will participate, which is particularly designed for the cooperators associated with Scheduled & Multi-State Urban Cooperative Banks. There are more than 1500 Urban Cooperative Banks in India and out of which 52 banks are scheduled banks.
Meanwhile, Nafucb has made a separate session for felicitating the representatives of Urban Cooperative Banks who have completed 100 years of existence. The awards will be given by the Union Minister of State for Finance Bhagwat Karad to the recipients. On average 198 banks are going to become a part of this award session.
