Despite Vidyadhar Anaskar wooing directors from the panel of the RSS affiliated organization Sahakar Bharati to his side, CA Ajay Bramhecha and Ms. Vaishali Awade from the Sahakar Bharti panel won the elections of Chairman and Vice-Chairperson of Maharashtra Urban Cooperative Banks Federation (MUCBF) respectively.
The elections of Chairman and Vice-Chairman were held on Thursday i.e. today afternoon. In the elections Bramhecha and his deputy Awade got 11 votes whereas their rivals Nipunrao Kore for Chairman and Yogesh Ban for Vice-Chairman lost by one vote each.
Interestingly, Kore and Ban who were earlier in the panel of Sahakar Bharati headed by Ajay Bramhecha joined the Anaskar’s team as “desired by the top leadership of the state BJP”. The opposition panel fielded them as candidates for Chairman and Vice-Chairman.
Readers would recall that in the elections of the board of directors of MUCBF, Anaskar’s panel won only five seats of the board of directors but prior to the elections four directors of Sahakar Bharati panel including Nipunrao Kore, Yogesh Ban, Satish Gupta and Anil Desai and one independent candidate switched sides to the Anaskar panel.
Soon after the election, while talking to Indian Cooperative Sahakar Bharati National General Secretary Uday Joshi said, “Finally, our team won the elections of Chairman and Vice-Chairman amidst tricks and unfair means used by our rivals. We work to strengthen the cooperative sector and never fight elections on party lines”.
Sahakar Bharati’s one of the founder members and RBI’s Central Board Director Satish Marathe lost no time in congratulating the winners. “Heartiest Congratulations to Ajayji & Vaishalitai on their hard earned victory. Also Special Congratulations to Dr Udayji Joshi & Vivekji Jugade for the excellent organisational support extended to all the newly elected Directors of Sahakar Bharati Panel”, he wrote on facebook.
MUCBF is the apex body of Urban Cooperative Banks of Maharashtra.
