Following the resignation of 10 directors of the Beed District Central Cooperative Bank
(BDCCB) last week, another 12 directors, out of the original strength of 25, followed the suit on Monday.
The bank officials have so far received resignations of the directors of BDCCB.
Only one director, who is currently out of station, is yet to file it. One of the directors had passed away recently and the other was disqualified, following a police complaint lodged against him.
Former MLA and Chairman of BDCCB Amarsinh Pandit, one of those, who resigned yesterday, said, “I am not against anyone. But, ten directors have already resigned, so there is no point in remaining on the post of the chairman of the bank. If I do not resign, there is no guarantee that I will remain on the post.”
On October 28, ten directors of the bank, including nine from NCP, submitted their resignation alleging irregularities in the bank.
“Almost, all directors of BDCCB have resigned. There were 25 directors on the BDCCB and so far, I have received 22 resignations. One director passed away and another one was disqualified around a month ago. The only director of the bank, who is yet to resign, is out of town,” Abhay Deshmukh, CEO of the bank.
About the future course of action, Pandit said, “We have informed the state government about the happenings and it is up to the government to take a decision on what should be done next.”
