In the elections of Maharashtra Urban Cooperative Banks Federation (MUCBF), the panel led by Sahakar Bharati won the majority of seats but failed to secure a berth in the two high profile constituencies namely Pune and Mumbai. Both have been won by the panel led by the outgoing Chairman Vidyadhar Anaskar, a well known face in the cooperative banking sector.
The era of Anaskar in the MUCBF has come to an end. He had been the Chairman of the cooperative organization for the last more than one decade. Now Sahakar Bharati is set to rule. The elections of Chairman and Vice-Chairman will be held in a couple of days.
The MUCBF board consists of 21 directors out of which 15 have been won by the leaders of RSS affiliated organization Sahakar Bharati whereas five won by Anaskar’s Panel and one seat has been won by an independent candidate. The result was announced today.
The elections were held for 11 seats and 10 directors were earlier elected unopposed. From Pune, Vidyadhar Anaskar and Vijay Dhere won the elections defeating their rivals Cosmos Bank Chairman Milind Kale and Anandkumar Gavade. Anaskar and Dhere got 32 and 20 votes respectively whereas Kale got 19 votes and Gavade received 10 votes.
The women’s seats were won by the Sahakar Bharati panel that fielded Maharashtra State President Shashi Ahire and Vaishali Awade defeating their rivals from Anaskar’s panel including Shobha Sawant and Sangita Kankariya. Ahire and Awade got 162 and 173 votes respectively.
Rubbishing rumours, Mrs Awade said, “I will not give my support to Anaskar’s panel for the elections of Chairman and Vice-Chairman and I fought the election from Sahakar Bharati. I am their candidate only”, Awade said, who is the Daughter in Law of Prakash Awade, Chairman, Kaijs Bank.
