While a date for the second meeting of the Governing Body of Laxmanrao Inamdar National Academy for Co-operative Research & Development (LINAC) is yet to be decided, LINAC has constituted an Executive Committee and has launched training programmes for urban banking sector in right earnest.
Second such training programme was concluded recently at its Gurgaon campus in which more than 25 participants from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat and other states participated.
Besides the DG of LINAC Dr D N Thakur, Governing Body member of LINAC Shri Satish Marathe and NAFCUB Chief Executive Subhas Gupta were present on the occasion.
Capacity building is an important aspect of UCBs working and this training was aimed at teaching them how to do digital banking, how to insulate themselves from cyber-attacks and related things, said Thakur to Indian Cooperative.
Marathe, who is both a GB member of LINAC and a Director on RBI Board was the first to inform on social media “Reached Laxmanrao Inamdar National Academy for Co-op Research & Development for inaugurating Program on Digital Banking, Cyber Security, etc”.
UCBs do not have any industrial products and as such they run on the pillars of trust and business acumen; NCDC intends to build their capacity and help them with capital should they face any crisis, underlined Thakur.
NCDC which is said to be an original proposer of the idea of Umbrella Organization along with NAFCUB for urban cooperative banks has also begun to make a renewed effort to get the idea translated into a reality sooner than later.
“It is not final though, a proposal to have a paid up capital of Rs 500 crore for the Umbrella Organization is being mooted”, informed Thakur. Indian Cooperative has learnt that NCDC is also pushing the idea at RBI level for its quicker implementation.
