Veteran co-operators from Gujarat Dollar Kotecha and Falji Patel have been elected as the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of Gujarat State Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank, popularly known as Kheti Bank respectively. They both belong to BJP.
Kotecha is also the Vice-Chairman of the apex body Gujarat Urban Cooperative Bank Federation, Director on the board of State Cooperative Union and boards of many other cooperatives. Before becoming the Chairman, Kotecha was the Vice-Chairman of the Bank.
Gujarat BJP’s top leaders including State BJP President C R Patel had put a stamp on their names. The elections of Chairman and Vice-Chairman were held on Monday and the results were announced by the Deputy Collector J B Desai, who was appointed as the RO.
It bears recall that the board of the bank consists of 18 directors out of which Bharatiya Janata Party won 14 seats and four seats were won by the Congress, in the election held last month.
With BJP’s landslide victory with 14 seats for the first time in the history of the bank, the board of the bank has been formed with a clear majority. Kotecha & Patel are expected to have smooth sailing in their tenures.
As soon as his name was announced Kotecha’s younger brother Girish Kotecha lost no time in sharing the news through social media. “Congratulations on the election of my elder brother Hon’ble Mr. Dollarbhai Kotecha as the Chairman of Gujarat State Co-operative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank (Kheti Bank), one of the top co-operative organizations in the state of Gujarat which is working for the development of agriculture and allied activities with a network of 174 branches and 750,000 members”, he wrote in Gujarati.
To elicit a response on the election, Indian Cooperative had made several phone calls to the newly elected Chairman but to no avail. Obviously, he is too busy thanking his followers.
