Being the largest co-operative bank of NCT Kangra got inaugurated its 9th branch at the hands of
Shri Ashwini Kumar Chopra, Member of Parliament and Resident Editor of Hindi Daily News Paper ‘ Punjab Kesari. R B Shandilya Vice Chairman of NAFCUB was Guest of Honour and Subhash Gupta , Chief Executive , NAFCUB was among others who registered their august presence at the function.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Ashwini Kumar Chopra said that being a journalist he has been raising various issues related to co-operative movements through his newspaper from some time. He promised to continue to do so in Parliament too as its member.
“There should not be any tax burden on Co-operative Banks as these were the only banks which take care of poor particularly belonging to lower strata of the society and meet their banking needs. I have already written to Union Minister of Finance about this and will pursue the matter further.
Shandilya also addressed the gathering and handed over a memorandum of demands prepared by the NAFCUB requesting Mr Kumar to take up these issues at the highest level of in the Centre.
Laxmi Dass, Chairman of the Kangra Bank said that there was a long felt need for a leader / representative of co-operative sector to advocate its concerns at Parliament but now the entire co-operative fraternity has found in Shri Chopra a well wisher who will fight for the cause of co-operative movements at the highest forum.
B R Sharma, Ex-MD & CEO and HCA&PD apprised the audience about the Bank and its various achievements made in the past and proposed plan of new initiatives. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Shakti Chand Sharma, Vice Chairman and Attar Chand Parmar, Managing Director conducted the function to satisfactory conclusion.
