Election of the Delhi-NCR leading cooperative bank Kangra Cooperative Bank is slated for 29th October. The final list of those who have filed nominations was finally declared late evening on Saturday. There are 40 names.
In a telephonic conversation with this correspondent Parminder Singh returning officer said 40 nominations have been filed out of which 15 candidates would finally make it to the board.
The scrutiny of nominations would be done on Monday and the list of valid nominations after the withdrawal would be put up on the next day, informed Singh.
Laxmi Dass-the outgoing Chairman of the UCB and Vice-Chairman Shakti Chand Parmar have also filed nominations. Talking to this correspondent Dass said “Today our panel known as ‘Himachal Social Group’ has filed 20 nominations for the 15 posts. We are fighting for the posts of Chairman and Vice Chairman. We have also two women in our team. There are five coverage candidates to avoid disqualification, if any.
Sources say at the time of nomination Laxmi Das was accompanied by more 100 supporters. His nomination was
Laxmi Dass who is also on the board of apex body of urban cooperative banks NAFCUB said “I have been the chairman of bank for two terms. Why I seek re-election is because in my tenure the UCB has achieved huge success. We also did not violate any of the norms of Reserve Bank of India or those of Registrar of Cooperative Societies, he said proudly.
Highlighting his future goal, Dass said “Recently we have expanded our banking business operation and opened its 10th branch in Delhi at Dwarka More. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has given us license to open two more branches till the end of this financial year i.e. 2017-18. Presently we are identifying locations for opening these branches, Dass added.
Kangra Cooperative Bank is the leading bank of Delhi-NCR and has a business mix of about 11,000 crore. It earned a net profit of Rs 11.5 crore in the last financial year. There are about 42,000 members associated with the bank.
