Maharashtra based Jijau Commercial Cooperative Bank, which grabbed media headlines when it floated a member-friendly scheme of helping Covid victims by offering their kin a sum of Rs 10,000, is waiting for a VIP to inaugurate its new building.
The UCB has shifted its head office to a new location at its own premises in Amravati and at present its management is busy finding VIPs for inaugurating the office next month.
Talking about the novel idea of helping its members in tough Covid times, Jijau Commercial Cooperative Bank’s Chairman Avinash A Kothale said “We have made a budget of Rs 2.5 lakh, if there is a need we will extend it”.
Talking about the new building he said, “Though, we have temporarily shifted to the new location but still we are planning to organize an event for inauguration, in which we will take a time of NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, State Chief Minister Uddhav Thackery, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar or Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. We have approached four of them and are awaiting their confirmation”, Kothale informed on the phone.
The sprawling new building is four storey and spread over the area of about 6700 square feet. It took three years to construct the head office at an estimated cost of Rs 3.6 crore.
“We have shifted our head office to a new location which is our own premises. For 20 years our head office had been on rent. We have been able to shift to a new location due to the efforts of board members, shareholders and well-wishers, who repose faith in the bank officials and management”, he stated.
He further added that, the new building has a basement at ground level, at 1st floor there is a main branch, 2nd floor head office and the third floor contains the IT department and meeting hall. It is built in a manner that each hall or room has enough ventilation”, he claimed.
Our bank has also contributed Rs 2.5 lakh towards the Chief Minister Relief Fund in order to help the government fight against coronavirus. The cheque has been handed over to the local District Magistrate.
