Jharkhand State Co-op Bank: Beating honchos Kumar selected CEO

Beating several corporate honchos, Manoj Kumar who is presently GM of Uttarakhand’s Garhwal (Kotdwar) District Cooperative Bank has been appointed as the full-fledged Chief Executive Officer in Jharkhand State Cooperative Bank.

Soon after receiving the joining letter, Kumar went to meet Uttarakhand Cooperative Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat. “Rawatji greeted me and wished me all luck for my new posting as CEO of Jharkhand State Cooperative Bank”, said Kumar.

For this job, 55 applicants had applied but only 11 aspirants were shortlisted by the five-member selection committee headed by the bank administrator IAS, Neha Arora. And five candidates came for the interview held at the bank premises at Ranchi on 1st June 2022.

It is reported that Priyadarshi Mishra, HDFC, Sheo Narayana Ram, Uma Shankar, India Post Payment Bank, Hansraj Ranga, ICICI Bank, Yashpal Gupta, Repco Home Finance, Subhash Chandra, BOB, Manbeer Singh, PMC Bank, Seema Singh, India Post Payment Bank, had been shortlisted.

After the resignation of former CEO Prem Prakash, the post was vacant for more than one year and the charge had been given to Accounts Manager Rajesh Kumar Tiwari. Now Kumar has been appointed as the CEO for a period of three years on a contract basis and asked to join the office on 20th June 2022.

Buoyed with the news, Manoj Kumar said to Indian Cooperative , “Yes, I have been given a big responsibility as the new CEO of the apex bank and I will work to take the bank to newer heights. I have a long experience in the cooperative banking sector. I will join the new office in the first week of July after getting relieved from my present job”, he informed.

It is worth mentioning that Kumar had started his career at Pithoragarh DCCB as a senior branch manager. Later on, he joined as a deputy general manager in Nainital and Chamoli District Central Cooperative Bank. He also worked as General Manager in Tehri DCCB.

Meanwhile, the bank is without management, and administrator Neha Arora has been overseeing the activities of the bank for the past several months. But the preparations for conducting the elections in the bank are underway.

Jharkhand State Cooperative Bank has a deposit base of Rs 2041 crore and loans and advances of Rs 538 crore. The bank earned a net profit of Rs 17.99 crore in the 2021-22 financial year. The gross and net NPA is 18.54 percent and 8.29 percent respectively.
