Veteran Gujarat Co-operator Shri Jyotindra Mehta was elected as a chairman of Gujarat Urban Co-Operative Banks’ Federation for consecutive third time. He won uncontested.
Mehta thanked the member UCBs to express their confidence into him and entrust him with the responsibility again. He has assured to continue to strengthen the co-operative solidarity further.
Mehta who is on the boards of NAFCUB and NCUI is also the Vice-Chairman of Sahakar Bharati. His ideology leans towards right of the political spectrum.
Mehta has to his credit many firsts in the state especially programme like” Flood IT” that helped the students to own their own computer/laptop/tablet through financial assistance from UCBs.
During his last two terms as a chairman, he had kept the Federation vibrant through various activities such as representing UCBs’ problems before various fora and Govt authorities, guiding member UCBs to resolve their issues.
He also established CBRDE-Centre for Banking Research, Development and Excellence, the first of its kind in India to guide and help the member UCBs in wake of suggestion by the RBI.
Mehta has been on various committees concerning co-operative activities like State Co-Operative Reforms Act, Co-Op. Council formed by the state Govt., various committees of RBI. By profession, he is Tax Consultant.
