The RBI appointed Committee has many members including Mukund Abhyankar, Director ,Cosmos Bank.
Dr. Abhyankar has been working in the co-operative banking sector for a long time. His work included assignments from Reserve Bank and the State Government. He also acted as a member of various other committees.
He has worked on the K. Madhavrao Committee named in 1997. At that point of time, he had studied the details of about 2000 banks all over India and sent his recommendations to the Reserve Bank which the RBI readily accepted.
For past 11 years he has been the Director of the ‘ NAFCUB’ and has been serving as the Director of Cosmos Bank for more than 30 years along with handling the post of Chairman for around 9- 10 times.
Dr. Abhyankar is the only representative of the nation’s Urban co-operative banking sector in this committee.
The rest of members of this newly appointed committee include – Mr. Umeshchandra Sarangi ( Chairman, NABARD), Dr. S. K. Goyal ( Secretary, Co-operative department, Maharashtra State), Mr. K. Ilumlai ( Director, IGNOU), Mr. H. K. Patil ( Chairman, National Federation of Co-operative Urban Banks) and Mr. A. Udgaata ( Chief General Manager, Urban Banks Department ( U.B.D.) – Member Secretary).
