India is one of the countries whose banking system is supposed to have been widely affected by WannaCry Ransomware Virus. But there are banks that have been able to dodge the virus.
Talking to this correspondent K.Joy Thomas, CEO of Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative Bank said “Our bank was not affected by the Ransomware. At PMC Bank we have regular practice of deploying patches for desktops/server through Centralized patching solution.
“We have also at the firewall level; latest signatures were deployed for IPS (Intrusion Prevention system), Applications-threats and antivirus to tackle this attack. Also to prevent this vicious attack list of domains published by Antivirus OEM were blocked.
And the most important users were made aware of the precautions to be taken while accessing mail”, he said to this correspondent on the phone.
Over 200,000 systems around the world were affected by the Wanna Cry attack, according to Media reports.
Readers would recall that recently PMC Bank has opened its 127th Branch at Yashwant Nagar, Virar, and Maharashtra. In the last financial year, it earned a net profit of about Rs 97 crore and is the youngest bank to have achieved the scheduled status in 2000.
