Gujarat based Rajkot Nagarik Sahakari Bank known as a “Large Bank of a Small Man” was one of the UCBs singled out by the state Chief Minister for its exemplary performance in implementing the Atmnirbhar Yojna.
A function was held recently for honoring its branches for their unprecedented achievements during the corona pandemic. It is said the bank has disbursed a total of Rs 522 crore to 38,000 small borrowers under the Atmnirbhar Yojna, says a press release issued by the bank.
Addressing the function, several leaders including Gujarat Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani said the bank has done a commendable job helping extremely poor people maintain their families, meet the costs of their medical treatment and several other expenses during the lockdowns.
Describing the bank as ”Big Bank of Small People” the chief minister said about 2.5 people at the grassroots level have received loans on two percent interest per annum.
The chief minister also announced a new scheme for Gujarat women namely ” Mukhyamantri Mahila Utkarsh Yojana” which can help the women with finance and other facilities to support their families.
Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani was felicitated with a fruit basket and a shawl. Jyotindra Mehta, the veteran co-operative leader and envisager of “Aatmnirbhar Gujarat Sahay Yojna” was felicitated with a fruit basket and a shawl.
Speaking on the occasion, Nalinbhai Vasa said their bank is committed to working for the poor and middle-class. Aatmnirbhar Yojna has helped the bank achieve its targets without difficulty. The bank has been instrumental in enabling the 2 lakh families means more than 10 Lakh people to overcome the difficulties posed by the corona pandemic.
In his remarks, Jyotindrabhai Mehta was all praise for the bank that has helped poor people with loans in the most difficult times. The “Large Bank of small men”, has made Rajkot proud, Mehta remarked.
In his welcome address, vice chairman of the Bank Jivanbhai Patel said, “Finance under the Atmnirbhar Yojana will bring positive change in the life of 38,622 families. The bank has worked hard to be in the top position among all the cooperative Banks in Gujarat.”
Rajnikant Raichura, the acting CEO said, “we are thankful to the Gujarat Government for selecting the co-operative sector to implement this scheme and we got one more opportunity to serve the society.
Prizes were given away to the bank’s branches for their outstanding performance.
Kalpakbhai Maniar, the director of the Bank, moved a vote of thanks on the occasion.
