Andhra Pradesh’s leading urban cooperative bank AP Mahesh is all set to shift into a sprawling new office at Banjara hills in Hyderabad even as its leaders are moving through the lanes of Delhi to find best people for the inauguration.
“We have not fixed the date of the inauguration as that would depend on when those VIPs we want to invite are free”, said Ramesh Bung. Bung who had come to invite NCUI Chief Executive and others at NCUI headquarters said Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh are two VIPs we are trying to rope in for the inauguration of our new corporate office.
Bung who is currently Chairman Emeritus of AP Mahesh Bank said he was pretty sure Radha Mohan Singh would oblige him. “Though the date is not fixed we hope to get it over before Dipawali”, he added.
Spread over 80 thousand square feet, the new office is five storied along with two levels of cellars. AP Mahesh Bank was compelled to construct and shift to a new location as its business grew in course of time.
The current office in Hyderabad is there since 1992 when the UCB had just 12 branches and 200 staff-members.”Today we have grown into 43 branches with more than 600 staff-members” said Bung who is said to have a weakness for media spotlight and publicity.
Boasting a turnover of Rs 3300 crore in the current fiscal AP Mahesh Bank has registered a profit of Rs 30 crores , claimed Bung. He also made light of the so-called woes faced by UCBs in the wake of demonetization.
“We never had any problem as RBI kept a steady flow of fund to us and we were able to satisfy our customers. I also thank our staff-members for putting in their best during those days”, he recalled.
Om Prakash Jakhotia, a Director on the Board of AP Mahesh Bank accompanied Ramesh Bung during his sojourn in Delhi.
