National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has bestowed the Best Performance Cooperative Bank Award on Ahmedabad District Co-operative Bank in Gujarat during a Credit Seminar held in Gandhinagar last week.
The Award was given by Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and it was jointly received by Chairman Ajaybhai Patel and Vice-Chairman Jagdishbhai B. Patel of the Ahmedabad District Cooperative Bank.
The award presentation function was also attended by Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat Nitinbhai Patel, Minister of Agriculture of Gujarat R. C. Faldu, Minister of Cooperation of Gujarat Ishvarbhai Patel and Minister of State of Gujarat Jaydrathsinh Parmar, among others
It bears recall that Ajaybhai Patel is also the Chairman of Gujarat State Co-operative Bank and he had received Kribhco’s Sahakarita Shiromani Award last year.
Nabard zeroed in on Ahmedabad District Cooperative Bank for bestowing its award in the category of Best Performance Cooperative Bank as the co-op bank has introduced several innovations in the field of financial inclusion and banking technologies.
Nabard lauded the bank for the successful launching of Rupay Card, Kisan Credit Card, Micro ATM, POS Machines, Implementation of Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, Establishment of Financial Literacy Centre at Rural Areas, Sheri Dramas, Introduction of Digital Van for Canvassing of Digital Banking and participation in “DIGI DHAN MELA” of the Central Government of India.
In addition, the Sanand branch of the Bank was awarded the best achievement in “Joint Liability Group Credit Linkage”. The Chief Minister Vijay Rupani presented award for this also to Chairman Ajaybhai Patel and Vice Chairman Jagdishbhai Patel, claimed a press release from the co-op bank.
Many officials including Additional Chief Secretary of Finance, Arvind Agrawal and Additional Chief Secretary of Agriculture and Cooperation, Sanjay Prasad, Regional Director of the Reserve Bank of Indiai J. K. Das and Chief General Manager of NABARD, Gujarat Region Sunil Chavla were present, among others.
