BJP had fielded a team of Ministers to celebrate Mahatma Gandhi’s Champaran Satyagrah centenary by organizing a Kisan Kumbh in Motihari’s Zila School compound. Radha Mohan, Ananth Kumar and Ravi Shankar Prasad Singh were some of the Central ministers who made it to Motihari on the occasion.
Amit Shah, BJP President slated to be present on the concluding day of the 7 day programme however could not make it. A full day was devoted to the celebrations with a show organized jointly by NCUI and NCDC that covered all facets of the cooperative movement.
Reacting sharply Bihar CM Nitish Kumar said “I saw big hoardings of the BJP ‘kisan kumbh’ on April 19 at Motihari. It’s a good thing. I wish to humbly ask them to tell what happened to their promises made to farmers during the 2014 general election to provide minimum support price by adding 50 per cent on the input cost,” he quipped.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also criticized Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and other NDA leaders once again for skipping the function in Patna to celebrate the Champaran Satyagraha centenary.

Coming to Motihari, participating in the function on Wednesday Union minister for chemical, fertilizer and parliamentary affairs Ananth Kumar said the Narendra Modi government would strain every nerve to complete the works of Mahatma Gandhi during the year of centenary celebrations.
The minister also announced that the Barauni fertilizer factory lying idle would be made functional with the latest technology within three years at an investment of around Rs 6,000 crore.
The minister announced the Centre’s decision to establish a Central Institute of Plastic Engineering at Motihari, which would be named after Mahatma Gandhi. The Centre has decided to spend around Rs 100 crore if a 29-acre plot is made available by the state government for the purpose, he said.
Presiding over the function, Union agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh said, “As per the Narendra Modi government commitment, we have already enhanced the support price of paddy from Rs 1,300 to 1,530 per quintal but the state government does not give this price to farmers.”
