Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh has invited cooperative leaders from the apex body NCUI to Sahakar Bharati to IFFCO to several others to discuss the issue of celebrations of birth centenary of late Shri Laxmanrao Inamdar.
The meeting is scheduled to take place today (Tuesday at 11 am)in the Ministry headquarters at Shashtri Bhavan in Delhi.
It bears recall that the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperation is planning a mega bash to commemorate the centenary birth anniversary of late Inamdar popularly known as Vakil Saheb on September 21st at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi.
Given the fact that Inamdar was the founder of Sahakar Bharati as well as the mentor of Prime Minister Narendra
Earlier, in April it was decided in the meeting of senior Sahakar Bharati leaders including Satish Marathe, Jyotindra Mehta and Uday Joshi with the Ministry officials that the one day conference would be conducted by NCUI. It was also decided that the conference would be followed by two-day Sahakari Mela at Pragati Maidan in Delhi.
Today’s meeting is aimed at taking stock of the progress made towards the preparations for the prestigious event. Singh wishes to enlist the support of as many cooperators as possible and has thus invited cooperators from several cooperative bodies for the brain-storming session on Tuesday, said a source close to the Minister. Ministry is making efforts to take onboard co-op organizations including NCUI, IFFCO, KRIBHCO, AMUL, NAFCUB, NABARD and NCDC.
The cost of the show would be borne by the government, said a Ministry official.
