Seeing it as a chance to make a comeback Congress leaders across states are highlighting the issue of farmers and protesting against the govt. In this series it was turn of Gujarat Congress leaders which led by cooperators like former MP V.K.Thummar, launched agitation in support of various demands of farmers and Patidars last week in Gujarat.

Soon after the protests, talking to this correspondent, Thummar said “with demands for farm loan waiver as well as subsidized seeds and fertilizers for the farmers we started a protest in Gujarat”.

Congress party workers who blocked highways across Saurashtra and north Gujarat were detained by the police.

It is reported that over 3,000 of them were detained across Gujarat for blocking traffic on national and state highways.

Readers would recall that farmers have been protesting since June, 1 in MP demanding loan waiver and better prices for their produce. BJP Minister Radha Mohan was earlier hackled in Odisha and eggs were thrown on his car by Congressmen, as reported in these columns.
