G. Sudhakaran CPM leader and former cooperative minister in Kerala has not taken kindly to an American scholar’s participation in an international seminar on cooperatives held recently in Kozhikode in Kerala. The seminar had been organized by the Uraungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society.
Kerala’s cooperatives do not need instruction from western experts as their ideas would only confuse matters for Kerala’s cooperative institutions said Sudhakaran while inaugurating a branch of Calicut city cooperative bank in Kozhikode.
According to the Marxist leader, it is time the state put a period to its dependence on western experts for it seriously distorted its planning process.
The news that one of the Kerala ministers had offered to co-author a book with the American scholar on the planning experiences of the state had provoked the CPM leader to indulge in criticism.
Sources say true to form, the Marxist leader had betrayed his anti-Americanism and made barbed comments.
