G H Amin the Chairman of Gujarat State Cooperative Union has slammed NABARD for its high-handedness on deciding on the fate of Primary Agricultural Societies. Speaking on the occasion of Cooperative Congress in Gandhinagar Mr Amin asked NABARD to withdraw the circular sooner than later.

The cooperative unions of several states including apex body NAFSCOB has said the Nabard move could jeopardize the very network of PACs in the country that has played an important role in providing farmers with short term credit for seasonal farming activities
Overwhelmed by the criticism on the issue of PACS, NABARD backtracked somewhat on Monday and issued a clarification of its July 22 circular.
Nabard hastened to add that regular functioning of PACS will remain intact even if they become BC.

Sources pointed out that in the event of dissolution of PACs farmers would get badly exposed to traditional usury and this could seriously affect agriculture.
The Cooperative Congress was inaugurated by the Chief Minister Narendra Modi. More than 3000 delegates participated in this. Amin offered the clourful cooperative cap to the chief minister on this occasion.
Amin expressed satisfaction that cooperative is a huge success in the field of sugar and dairy. But he lamented that corresponding development in the credit cooperative is not taking place. Amin stressed on the need of improving this sector.
