A delegation from the State Great Hural, the Parliament of Mongolia, visited the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) recently and their visit coincided with their participation in the ICA Global Conference 2024 and the global launch of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025 (IYC 2025).
The delegation included Ganbaatar Sainkhuu, Mandkhai Mendbayar, and Dr. Ulziit Luvsanjav, accompanied by Minister Counsellor Dr. Ulziit Luvsanjav from the Embassy of Mongolia to the Republic of India.
The visit aimed to foster cooperative ties between India and Mongolia, explore avenues for collaboration in the cooperative sector, and learn from India’s robust cooperative model, which plays a pivotal role in promoting sustainable development.
Dr. Sudhir Mahajan, Chief Executive of NCUI, extended a warm welcome to the delegation and provided a detailed overview of NCUI’s initiatives and its contributions to the Indian cooperative movement.
Dr. Mahajan emphasized NCUI’s alignment with the goals of IYC 2025, which seeks to highlight the global impact of cooperatives in advancing inclusive growth, improving livelihoods, and building sustainable communities. He also briefed the delegation on the key initiatives undertaken by India’s Ministry of Cooperation, which have significantly bolstered the cooperative sector and contributed to socio-economic development.
They admired the innovative approaches employed by NCUI to enhance the visibility and impact of cooperatives, as well as the diverse range of products on display. Members of the delegation purchased products from the Haat, reflecting their support for local cooperative ventures.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity for the exchange of ideas and best practices between the two nations, strengthening international ties in the cooperative sector. The Mongolian delegation expressed a keen interest in exploring future collaborations with India to promote cooperative development, contributing to the broader objectives of IYC 2025.
The interaction was attended by NCUI officials, including Executive Directors Ashish Dwivedi, Ved Prakash Setia, and Ritesh Dey, along with Assistant Director Inderpreet Kaur, and representatives from International Relations Archana Gupta and John Minton. The meeting was moderated by Sandhya Kapoor, Director of NCUI, ensuring a productive dialogue between the two delegations.
