The West Bengal state government will expedite elections in cooperative unions lacking elected boards to ensure transparency and efficiency, announced Pradip Mazumdar, Minister of Cooperation.
Speaking at the conclusion of the 71st All India Cooperative Week, Mazumdar highlighted the role of cooperatives in uplifting economically weaker sections by pooling resources for loans.
He stressed the importance of elected boards for accountability, citing success stories like Sridharpur Cooperative Bank. Minister Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay praised cooperatives’ progress in combating past issues of corruption.
