The National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) is hosting a transformative training programme titled “Responsible Governance, Compliance, and Sustainability from November 11 to 13, 2024.”
The event has brought together 38 Cooperative Information Officers (CIOs) from Multi-State Cooperative Societies (MSCS) in the Delhi NCR region, aiming to strengthen governance frameworks and compliance practices.
Inaugurated by Rabindra Kumar Agarwal, CRCS, the programme features an impressive panel of dignitaries: Dr. Sudhir Mahajan (Chief Executive, NCUI), Dr. Mukesh Kumar (Director, Ministry of Cooperation), Ritesh Dey (Executive Director, NCRC/CEAS), Dr. V. K. Dubey (Adviser, NCUI), Dr. Sagar Kisan Wadkar (Adviser & Programme Director), Yashank Kalyani (Research Officer and Programme Coordinator), and Ms. Rajani Sharma (Assistant Director).
Speaking at the inaugural session, Agarwal highlighted the pivotal role of CIOs in fostering transparency and sustainability within cooperatives. He underscored the importance of robust and comprehensive Bye-Laws, particularly in light of recent amendments to the MSCS Act. “This initiative by NCUI is both timely and necessary for building capacity among cooperative leaders,” he remarked.
Dr. Sudhir Mahajan warmly welcomed participants, reaffirming NCUI’s commitment to supporting cooperative societies in collaboration with the Ministry of Cooperation. He encouraged attendees to actively participate and share feedback to enhance future training efforts.
Dr. Mukesh Kumar lauded NCUI’s proactive approach in aligning with the ministry’s objectives, while Shri Ritesh Dey outlined the comprehensive training schedule.
Over the course of three days, participants will delve into key topics, including the MSCS Act, governance best practices, membership management, and effective dispute resolution.
This hands-on training is designed to equip CIOs with the tools and knowledge to navigate the complexities of cooperative management while fostering a culture of transparency and accountability.
