The Department of Co-operation in Assam held a meeting in Kokrajhar to discuss forming a Piggery Allied Co-operative Society, reports The Sentinel.
The session, chaired by Jayanta Kherkatary, CHD of Co-operation, brought together 32 pig farmers from the district.
Kherkatary highlighted the benefits of the co-operative model, suggesting it could elevate pig farming into a large-scale, organized, and scientifically managed sector.
Participants also discussed meeting the region’s rising demand for pork and explored strategies to expand supply to broader markets outside Kokrajhar.
