To make India a developed nation by 2047, the progress of every segment of our society is essential, stated Maharashtra Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan during the inauguration of a special department for financing micro and small entrepreneurs at the ‘Sahakar Sabhagruha’ of Cosmos Bank.
In his speech, C. P. Radhakrishnan emphasized that although our country has diverse languages, castes, and creeds, we are united by our shared religion, culture, and heritage, which is the true greatness of India. He highlighted the need to ensure healthcare, housing, and food for every citizen.
He urged everyone to work towards achieving these goals. To accelerate progress, he emphasized the importance of providing loans to small entrepreneurs, noting that banks should support small enterprises through personalized services, a positive work culture, and by fostering confidence.
He added that small borrowers are generally diligent in repaying their loans, resulting in a low non-performing assets (NPA) percentage in the microfinance sector.
He praised Cosmos Bank for this commendable initiative and acknowledged the Bank’s tradition of excellence, crediting its legacy to the contributions of its staff, dedication, and commitment to customer service.
On this occasion, Cosmos Bank’s Chairman, CA Milind Kale, announced that to meet the financial needs of small entrepreneurs, Cosmos Bank now offers loans ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 5 lakh, available at reasonable interest rates.
He expressed confidence that the growth of small entrepreneurs will make the Indian economy more dynamic. Kale added that the Bank continuously trains its employees and upgrades its technology to meet evolving challenges. Along with its employees, the Bank also prioritizes the interests of its members, depositors, and account holders.
Revered Swami Govind Dev Giri Maharaj, speaking at the event, remarked that India was once a prosperous nation, with ancestors skilled in wealth creation and financial discipline. He noted that Cosmos Bank has carried forward this legacy for over a century, boosting the self-confidence of the common man. He expressed optimism about India’s future, stating that the coming period will be a golden era for the nation.
During the ceremony, Cosmos Bank’s Managing Director, Mrs. Apekshita Thipsay, shared the purpose behind the establishment of the new department.
