Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched 109 high-yielding, climate-resilient, and biofortified crop varieties at the India Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi.
He emphasized the importance of value addition in agriculture and the shift towards nutritious food, particularly millets. Modi urged Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) to inform farmers monthly about these new varieties.
Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan highlighted the significance of these crops for increasing farmers’ income and reducing costs, noting their climate resilience and nutritional value.
The initiative exemplifies the lab-to-land approach, aiming to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability.
