Over a week after its formation, the parliamentary committee investigating the misuse of public funds by various cooperatives has begun drafting its working procedures in Kathmandu.
The first meeting tasked officials with preparing the procedures, which will be endorsed in a subsequent meeting. Led by CPN-UML lawmaker Surya Thapa, the seven-member committee aims to complete the investigation within three months.
The committee will investigate financial irregularities, recommend measures for depositor reimbursement, and track funds allegedly transferred to Gorkha Media Network. It will also review cooperatives identified as crisis-ridden by the Department of Cooperatives.
