Surat People’s Cooperative Bank’s former Chairman Mukesh Dalal has already won the Lok Sabha election unopposed on the BJP ticket as the nomination papers of his main rival the Congress backed candidate have been rejected. The remaining candidates have bowed out of the race.
Dalal has replaced three times MP and Union minister of State for Railways and Textile Darshana Jardosh.
Commenting on this development, Dalal said, “I have been elected unopposed as the Lok Sabha MP from the Surat constituency. I thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, Home Minister Amitbhai Shah, BJP Chief J P Nadda, Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel and others for showing their faith in me”, he said.
Extending his best wishes to Dalal on his electoral victory, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel called it historic.
Dalal was the Chairman of Surat Municipal Corporation and is one of the outstanding cooperators.
It bears recalling that in the election of Surat People’s Cooperative Bank held last year, Mukesh Dalal had led one of the panels in the election.
