The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), renowned for its ‘Amul’ brand, has unveiled plans to expand its locally sourced ‘fresh milk’ venture beyond the United States (US), reports the FE.
“We’re exploring opportunities in various markets to reach consumers directly,” stated Jayen Mehta, GCMMF’s managing director. Expectations loom for fresh milk sales announcements in other countries soon.
While Amul dominates FMCG in India, export growth trails domestic expansion. Exports constitute around 2% of Amul’s total sales turnover, set to exceed Rs 80,000 crore ($10 billion) this fiscal year.
GCMMF boasts 18 district unions, with over 3.6 million dairy farmers across 18,600 villages in Gujarat.
