A delegation from Amul arrived in Sri Lanka to inspect farms owned by the National Livestock Development Board, reports Sri Lankan media.
These inspections precede potential leasing to Amul. The Board, with 31 farms over 28,000 acres, is appraising their value for leasing. 80% of land value assessments are complete.
Additionally, the Animal Production and Health Department has assessed animal values.
This move follows a recent India-Sri Lanka agreement to boost Sri Lanka’s liquid milk industry, though facing opposition from local dairy farmers with protests against leasing to India.
